Music means everything to me. No matter the mood, or the activities, you cannot go wrong by adding music! My tastes are all over the place and I LOVE IT. In 2019 I found a lot of great music & I’m bringing a lot of it into 2020 with me, including these kickass anthems in this post!

Lizzo- Soulmate; This is the song that made me love Lizzo. It was the first song of hers I listened t,o, and I quickly realized that I was going to like this lady and I do.

Favorite lyric: ‘Cause I’m my own soulmate
I know how to love me
I know that I’m always gonna hold me down

Good as hell; This one is one that requires to be played loudly and proudly.

Favorite lyric: Got to take a deep breath, time to focus on you
All the big fights, long nights that you been through
I got a bottle of Tequila I been saving for you
Boss up and change your life

Maren Morris- GIRL: I am deeply obsessed with Maren Morris’s music, and this album is one reason, and this song is another. It is definitely on my list of songs to listen to when I need a pick me up.

Favorite lyric: Pick yourself up off the kitchen floor
Tell me what you waitin’ for? Girl, won’t you stop your cryin’?
I know that you’re tryin’ Everything’s gonna be okay

Halsey- Nightmare: When I’m feeling rebellious,s this is 110% my go-to. Halsey has many wonderful songs, most of my favorites involve her, but this one is really special.

favorite lyric: No, I won’t smile, but I’ll show you my teeth
And I’ma let you speak if you just let me breathe
I’ve been polite, but won’t be caught dead
Letting a man tell me what I should do in my bed

Taylor Swift- The Man; Is there a better empowerment song? I mean truly, this entire album is amazing, but she really outdid herself with this masterpiece.

Favorite lyrics: I’m so sick of running as fast as I can, wondering if I’d get there quicker if I was a man. And I’m so sick of them coming at me again; ‘Cause if I was a man, then I’d be the man. I’d be the man; I’d be the man. They’d say I hustled, put in the work. They wouldn’t shake their heads and question how much of this I deserve; What I was wearing, if I was rude; Could all be separated from my good ideas and power moves

you need to calm down; Not much gives me more joy than jamming out to this song, especially the lyrics below. Love is love man, get over it.

favorite lyrics: You just need to take several seats
And then try to restore the peace
And control your urges to scream
About all the people you hate
‘Cause shade never made anybody less gay

Kelsea Ballerini- Miss me more: I cannot play this song enough. I feel this song in my bones. So god damn good. Coming to the kind of realization this song talks about is very important.

favorite lyrics: I forgot I had dreams, I forgot I had wings
Forgot who I was before I ever kissed you
Yeah, I thought I’d miss you
But I miss me more

Miranda Lambert- bluebird: “Keep the bluebird in my heart” makes me think of keeping my mema, nana, and poppy in my heart as we always used to watch the birds. And I am just absolutely in love with the whole vibe of this song which, to me, is, keep finding the light.

favorite lyrics: And if love keeps giving me lemons
I’ll just mix ’em in my drink
And if the whole wide world stops singing
And all the stars go dark
I’ll keep a light on in my soul
Keep a bluebird in my heart

Serena Gomez- lose you to love me: I have never quite felt quite connected to a song when I first heard it. It was as if Serena went into my brain and took my thought and put them directly in a song. And those are the best ones.

favorite lyrics: We’d always go into it blindly
I needed to lose you to find me
This dancing was killing me softly
I needed to hate you to love me

Jana Kramer- Good Enough: Jana might just be coming out with a few songs here and there these days but this one is a gem.

favorite lyrics: To be the one that you fight for
The one that you’d die for
I wanna, I wanna be. The one that you stand for
Reach out your hand for, I wanna, I wanna be; Good enough for me

Maddie and Tae- Bathroom floor: This is 100% a fantastic pump-up song. I discovered this song exactly when I needed it.

Favorite lyrics: Get up off the bathroom floor
Let’s wipe the tears off your cheeks
Put on a dress and get out that door
Girl, the first shot’s on me
Let’s jump into a cab downtown
Let a sexy man spin you around
Let’s show that heart some neon magic
‘Til we’re drunk and laughing
Back on the bathroom floor

Pink- Hustle: I just discovered this song a week ago, and I honestly don’t know what took me so long.

favorite lyrics: I gave you soft, I gave you sweet
Just like a lion, you came for a sheep
Oh no, don’t try to hustle me
You took my love, mistook it for weakness
I guarantee I won’t repeat this
No, don’t try to hustle me

Christina Aguilera- Fighter

How exactly does one listen to this song and NOT get hyped as hell?!

Reba McEntire- I’m a survivor

Ever need a pick me up when you’re feeling like absolute shit and that weight you’ve been carrying almost feels like it’s too much? Listen to this.

Kacey Musgraves- Follow your arrow

Such as wonderful, do you, fuck what anyone thinks, kind of vibe.

Sugarland- Settlin’

I feel like most people have heard of “fighter” by Aguilera but most probably don’t know Sugarland’s settling. I highly recommend you pull up your apple music, Spotify or youtube, whatever. And thank me later.

Rachel Platten- Fight Song.

The ultimate power-up song. Is there anything better than turning this up as loud as possible with the windows down on a gorgeous spring day? The answer is no.

I launched Miss Raee in 2016 purely for a twenty-something girl who is trying to figure it all out, who loves to write and finally decided to share it. I’ve had a hell of a time figuring out what I wanted this blog to be, and I’ve eventually narrowed it down to that I want this blog to be ME, every weird, quirky, loveable aspect of me and even more importantly anyone who also sees themselves as that weird, quirky, loveable person who might love plant-based cooking, multiple fandoms including Star Wars, Supernatural, Greys Anatomy, DC TV, Marvel, The Magicians and SO much more. I found myself being an advocate for mental health, for animals, for the environment, and for equality. I’m a big believer in the vibes you bring, the power of music, and how important the storytelling of books and movies and TV can be. If I’m not on the blog, you can find me sharing selfies and nonsense on Instagram @/amandaraeex3 and live-tweeting and putting in my two cents on twitter at @/amandaraee_x3, so I hope you’ll tag along with me on here and my social media and enjoy all the weird, quirky things we all love.
