If you’re also plant based, and live in a relatively small town then you know that it can be super hard to find good vegan food, because of that, when I do find something I get pretty freaking excited about it. So let me tell you about them!
- This Vegan Protein Powder.
I am very picky with my protein powder. If it’s too chalky or has a bad aftertaste I can’t just drink it down and deal with it. It’s got to taste good. Of course the last two I’ve found they no longer sell anywhere around me without a half hour drive, so I was forced to find another. I found this one at Target and I love it. Not too chalky, no bad aftertaste. Pairs perfect with my almond milk, and even though it’s peanut butter flavored I still add about a half tsp of peanut butter to it because I think it breaks it up, gives it a good texture and I really love peanut butter.
2. Vegan Ravioli
Raviolis are one of my favorite things ever and one major thing I had a hard time letting go of as I got myself off dairy cheese! I found these babies by accident, I was looking for my favorite vegan burritos which of course they were out of, and I came across these, last shelf, the last bag. I was skeptical at first but I immeditely made them for lunch when I got home from the store and they were SO good and because they’re vegan raviolis they weren’t so heavy which was also great. I haven’t been able to find them since, but I’ll definitely be on the look out.
3. Vegan Ramen!
A few weeks ago I had the most ridiculous craving for Ramen. I haven’t eaten it in probably 10 years. Back when I still ate meat and didn’t realize how much salt I was consuming by doing so! Anyways, I wasn’t feeling good and all I wanted was some ramen soup. I couldn’t shake the craving. It was ridiculous.. I know there is vegan ramen with veggies and so on but I didn’t want that, I wanted noodles and broth. That’s it. So I found these Japanese Style noodles while on the hunt, added in this veggie broth, along with half a cup of italian diced tomatos for something extra (totally not necessary, just a spur of the moment thought that it would taste good), and BAM. I satisfied my craving.
4. Veggie Ground Crumbles.
If you’re a vegan you’re familiar with the usual how do you live with such and such? such and such could be pizza, burgers, and TACOS. I used to like the morning star brand, but it’s only vegetarian, and while I like most gardein products their crumble is not my favorite. This lightlife brand is DELLICIOUS though. I’ll use it for tacos either constructed or deconstructed, or just add my beloved diced italian tomatos to it and I have a delicous meal.
5. These Vegan Dumplings.
These dumplings are made my Macro de Vegetarian but are completely vegan, GMO free and made from solar power. Which is freaking awesome.
When I used to work in daycare I had a parent who would occasionally bring us home made authentic dumplings just like this. I never said anything to do but at some point she found out that I didn’t eat meat and she started to bring in vegetarian ones just for me! Not only was it the sweetest thing, but they were SO good. Before I found these I hadn’t had one in probably five years. I’m not sure where else they might sell this but I found this in Market 32 where they have the pre-made small dinners. Again, a total accidental find but man am I glad I did. I found them two weeks ago and I’ve had them both saturdays after I got home, for lunch, and I will give no apologies for it. 😉
My mom always makes fun of me or rolls her eyes when I get super excited about finding these vegan treats but it seriously does make me excited! I love it when my recipies turn out good, I love trying these recipies, and I love finding these kinds of treats while shopping, especially because I don’t live somewhere that they are always accessible to me. I’m weird like that and I wouldnt’ have it any other way.
