Meatless Monday: Overnight Oats
I’ve been dying to try making overnight oats for a while, and a couple weeks ago I didn’t have much breakfast food laying around, and I was up early, and hungry. So I made one of my normal protein shakes, and as I’m putting the blender away, I see I still have a container of Oats on the shelf. So my mind got to thinking. I’ve seen a ton of recipes before I just wasn’t sure if it’d be worth it because I do have a love/hate relationship with oatmeal. I already had everything I would need to make this, so I decided to give it a shot.
Ingredients
1/3 cup of oatmeal
2 tbsp of chia seeds
1/2 cup of strawberries
1/2 of a banana
1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
1tsp of vanilla extract
a drizzle of maple syrup
Directions.
- Place oatmeal, chia seeds, banana, and strawberries together in a bowl.
2. In a smaller separate bowl put together milk and vanilla and then pour that mixture over the oat chia mixture.
3. I placed the oat-chia mixture in the fridge overnight.
4. You could always add extra strawberries, or add nuts. You could also add a little more milk if it’s too thick, but I thought the texture of mine came out just right!
What do you add in your overnight oats? let me know 🙂
